At least scream or cry. Especially when she took a loan for the money! View 1 comment. Jun 17, Diane rated it it was amazing. When I read a book I want to be kept guessing right to the end with surprising, but realistic plot twists. I want new twists to creep up on me and still be keep me guessing as the story nears its end.
This is what I got with Wanted An Honest Man, along with a host of affable characters that quickly grew on me and for whom I wanted to see, in the main, the best happen to them. Lindsey grows as the story moves forward and for me this was one of the main attractions of the book. Far too often I hav When I read a book I want to be kept guessing right to the end with surprising, but realistic plot twists.
Jun 24, Lorraine Price rated it it was amazing. I liked the beginning as it starts out with "Once Upon a Time. There is some disturbing dialogue about a young boy that may be hard for some parents to handle. It was a jaw-dropper for me. Definitely suspenseful! It's a wonderful tale of mystery, animals, children, romance and more!
I could not put this book down until I had read I liked the beginning as it starts out with "Once Upon a Time. I could not put this book down until I had read the whole thing! This is book one of the Lindsey Lark series and the main character is someone who was orphaned as and grew up remembering happier times by reading lots of fairy tales and uses them in her job as a kindergarten teacher, reading them to the children.
She thought she was happily married to the love of her life, like in the fairy tales she re, until she comes home ill one day and finds her husband in bed with another woman! He leaves, saying he is actually in love with this much younger a Wanted one honest man is book one of the Lindsey Lark series and the main character is someone who was orphaned as and grew up remembering happier times by reading lots of fairy tales and uses them in her job as a kindergarten teacher, reading them to the children.
He leaves, saying he is actually in love with this much younger and better looking model and even comes back to take away their shared dog, Wendell. She has to keep it together Wanted one honest man the sake of the young and lively children that she works with in class, but finds it difficult to cope without someone at home to talk to or keep her company. Laura finds out the name of her rival and reveals that the other woman is called Shawna and is a dancer or stripper at a club called The Office!
Lindsey ends up calling for a Chinese takeaway one night and gets a welcome surprise when the delivery driver, Jake, turns up with Wendell in tow! He has been asked by Shawna to look after him for a day or so, and it is all extra money for him as he works a couple of different jobs to support his studies.
He is actually doing his thesis on women alone, and already has three subjects and finds himself writing and asking lots of questions of both Lindsey and Laura, not realising that the two know each other, until much too late. Lindsey keeps herself busy with the children, but they are not always so easy to manage and a couple of them are raising some serious concerns.
A series of attempts at new relationships leave her wanting more and unhappy with her progress, but the children always keep her going, even when she is at her lowest. She can throw herself into her work and a new production at school, to take up all her time. Jake continues his investigations into his subjects, finding out some hidden secrets along the way, as he begins to fall for one of them.
Some interesting situations occur for Lindsey, along the way, as a new journey begins as her life changes. An interesting read, which starts with the obvious wife finding her husband in bed with another, but goes off in so many different directions as she also ends up a stalker, gets strange phone calls and Wanted one honest man gifts left at her door and work.
Whether she will find her happily ever after with one of the men she meets along her new life journey, is for you to read and find out. She is a survivor and whilst she lives for her work, it also helps to ground her in reality and her own fairy tale. This is the first book I have read by this author and I Ioved its complexity, so I bought it as well. Nov 05, Avid rated it did not like it. I really tried to read this book, and even read beyond the point at which I wanted to throw things, but it was just too awful to get beyond the first section. The pace is slower than molasses.
The prose are filled with seemingly inconsequential minutiae. The plot seems to be absent, and the characters are shallow and undeveloped. Lindsey, aka the main character, is absolutely not sympathetic. She's enraging in her weakness. One expects a woman whose husband has left her for another woman would be depressed and feeling sorry for herself. That bit isn't surprising. There's a brief glimmer of hope that she's going to take him to court and sue the pants off of him because of how he's treated her, but then What kind of friend is that??? Then we find out a bit more about Lindsey's childhood in Wanted one honest man care, and then things definitely don't make sense.
Having had no personal experience with foster care, only the stories of friends and what's on the news, I understand that it makes you cynical and jaded early on. That the insecurity makes you learn not to trust people.Wanted one honest man
